It lies in the heart of the Western Kalahari, a landscape of extremes and distinct beauty, where wild game roam freely and the Ju/’oan people still live on a portion of their ancestral land. The magic of N//oaq!a’ is not in the beauty of the Kalahari, but the people: in their spirit, their poetry and culture.

What We Are Doing

Education
If it takes a village to raise a child, a school gives a village what every child deserves—opportunity close to home

In addition to building and renovating school buildings, we are making sure that quality mother-tongue education is provided. That includes cultural activities

Facilities
Each Village School is a safe, functional space for learning. The buildings include well-designed classrooms, dormitories, a kitchen, and accommodation for teachers. They are equipped with solar power and access to running water. Children can learn locally, near their community, with facilities that support convenience and continuity.
Community, Food & Transport
Food and nutrition are critical in motivating school attendance and the ability to learn

Every school will have a school garden that will not only feed the learners, but also teach them how to grow food. In addition, basic food items are provided to complement the meals

Capacity Building of teachers
Fancy buildings without great teachers will not result in quality education. Support for San teachers is vital for the progression of the schools. Teachers are assisted with their studies and mentored to become capable and creative teachers
