New UK Donation Route Opens to Support Nyae Nyae Village Schools

New UK Donation Route Opens to Support Nyae Nyae Village Schools
Direct, ‘fee-free’ giving from the UK & internationally now available to address critical challenges and empower Ju/’hoansi education.

For over 25 years, the Village Schools Project has partnered with the Ju/’hoansi communities of the Nyae Nyae Conservancy to support mother-tongue education and culturally resonant schooling. This work, celebrated in works like “Owners of Learning,” has always been a partnership against significant odds.

The challenges are profound: remote locations, decaying school infrastructure, long and dangerous walks for children, a critical shortage of teaching materials, and the ongoing need to balance formal education with vital cultural knowledge. Despite the eagerness of parents and Traditional Authorities to own their children’s education, systemic under-investment and logistical hurdles persist.

A New Pathway for Global Supporters

To make it easier for our dedicated supporters in the United Kingdom, Europe, and across the globe to stand with the Ju/’hoansi, we have established a dedicated UK bank account. This new route simplifies the donation process for international donors and ensures that 100% of every contribution is transferred directly to the Ju/’hoansi Development Fund (JDF) in Namibia, with zero administrative fees deducted.

Your donation, whether it’s to provide exercise books, fund a school meal, repair a classroom, or buy textbooks, will have its full impact felt in Nyae Nyae.

Why This Matters Now

This step comes at a crucial time. Investment is needed to build and improve, repair infrastructure, provide nutritional support, and continue the essential work of developing mother-tongue literacy materials and training Ju/’hoansi teachers. By choosing to donate via our new UK account, you directly empower the community’s vision for an education that includes their language, culture, and right to self-determination.

Every contribution, large or small, helps build a future where Ju/’hoansi children can learn and thrive.
